Consuming too much salt can cause water retention, which may lead to puffiness in the eyes. Stress, dehydration and some medications can also contribute to an increase in salt levels, as well as a lack of sleep or seasonal allergies.
Peppermint Essential Oil is considered to be a natural astringent. This extract is believed to constrict the skin and underlying blood vessels which results in skin appearing more taut. Astringents like Peppermint Oil may treat puffy eyes caused by a buildup of fluid, such as those caused by a lack of sleep, allergies, or in some cases, water retention. This natural extract is believed to constrict the area around the eyes to help prevent additional fluid from pooling.
Peppermint may also have anti-inflammatory properties which can help treat inflamed puffy eyes caused by allergies.
